It’s So Cold In North America That Niagara Falls Looks Like Something From Narnia

The recent cold snap hitting North America has made Niagara Falls into a icy fairyland.

Niagara Falls, one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the area, is actually a set of three waterfalls bridging Canada and the US. The American and Bridal Veil falls are on the American side of the river, separated from the larger Horseshoe Falls by an island in the middle. The triple falls, always popular as a tourist destination, have been transformed into a winter wonderland, as icy mist from the freezing falls coats the surrounding landscape.

2018 has been the coldest January 1st on record in the Niagara area, with temperatures dropping below -26 Celcius (-14.8 Fahrenheit). According to Global News meteorologist Ross Hull, “the normal overnight/morning low [for New Year’s] should be closer to -7 C,” Hull said. “The high temperature on New Year’s Eve was also well below average with a daytime high close to -15 C.”

But, despite the deep chill, the falls have not completely frozen over.

Yes, it’s cold. But, no,  hasn’t stopped falling, it just looks that way! And the Falls looks stunning!

The water is too fast for that, with over 3,6100 tons of water flowing over the falls per second. Although the falls have appeared to be frozen over in previous years, there has still been water flowing under the icy “bridge.” The Falls have only truly stopped once, in March 1848, when ice clogged the river so badly that it couldn’t flow

In the late 1800’s, people used to walk over the frozen falls, and vendors even set up stands to serve food and alcohol out on the river. But on February 4th, 1912, the ice bridge connecting the two sides of the river broke up after a block of ice fell on it, with almost 40 people on the bridge.

Couple Eldridge and Clara Stanton were stranded and attempted rescuer Burrell Hecock became stranded with them. All three were swept over the falls. After the incident, people are no longer allowed to walk out over the river when it freezes.

People are harassing Meadow Walker over the wrongful death suit she filed for her dad Paul Walker

Back in 2013, we lost actor Paul Walker to a car crash after the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that he was a passenger in hit a tree and caught fire.

Two years after the accident, Walker’s daughter, Meadow, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche stating that the car had many design flaws that contributed to her father’s death.

According to the lawsuit, “the vehicle lacked safety features that are found on well-designed racing cars or even Porsche’s least expensive road cars.”

Walker and her attorney, Jeff Milam, believe that her father might have survived the incident if the car was equipped with features such as side door reinforcement bars.

According to ABC News, the lawsuit claimed the actor was alive for roughly a minute and 20 seconds after the car crashed, and mentioned how a flaw in the seat belt design prevented him from escaping the vehicle.

Details of the settlement proceedings, which finally concluded a few days ago, will remain confidential, meaning no one has concrete facts about what took place in court.

Regardless, fans of Porsche are lashing out at Meadow Walker because of the suit.

Walker is being called every name possible due to the settlement — some of the comments referring to her openly as the “c-word,” and many calling her greedy. It’s as if they forgot the 18-year-old lost her father in the accident.

No matter your perspective on whether there should or shouldn’t have been a lawsuit (which shouldn’t really be up for public dissection), hateful comments and online harassment are never okay, and it is disheartening to see that certain people think this is an acceptable or appropriate response to Meadow’s private legal journey following the death of Paul Walker.

As of right now, Walker hasn’t addressed the hate — nor should she have to. Prior to news of the settlement, she decided to honor the memory of her father by starting a foundation based around random acts of kindness.

Let’s all take a page from Meadow’s book and remember to focus on kindness. The world needs it now maybe more than ever.

Paul Walker’s Daughter, Meadow, Attends Justin Bieber’s ‘Believe’ Premiere

Paul Walker’s daughter made her first public appearance since the tragic death of her father last night (Dec. 18) as she attended the premiere of Justin Bieber’s new documentary, “Believe.”

According to E! News, Meadow Walker was among the guests who attended the screening at Regal Cinemas L.A. Live in Los Angeles.

Sources confirmed that the teen arrived in one of the vehicles that carried Bieber and his entourage to the event, although Meadow did not walk the red carpet.

She did, however, get to enjoy the film.

Reportedly, the 15-year-old met Bieber, 19, backstage during a meet-and-greet at one of his concerts a few years ago.

A photo of their meeting surfaced online following her father’s untimely death.

Walker, the star of the “Fast and the Furious” film franchise, died in a fiery car crash on Nov. 30 in Santa Clarita, Calif. He was 40 years old.

The latest report claims that the accident was caused by “speed, and speed alone,” and that mechanical issues were not a factor.

Paul Walker – 3900000$ CARS COLLECTION 2013

Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire got a look at the collection at the shop’s garage in 2012, and the video above is likely the most detailed look anyone will receive of Walker’s collection, in accordance with the wishes of the estate.

The video was published more than two years ago, giving a brief look at some of the vehicles stored in the shop, and it arguably doesn’t show enough details for the vehicles to be immediately identified if they were to appear on the open market, without looking at the paperwork.

The only other known Paul Walker car which has recently been offered for sale is a Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R owned by a Munich-based tuning shop called GT-A, which acquired the car after federal agents in Costa Mesa, Calif., ordered it to be exported within 60 days ( it’s complicated).

The German shop offered the car for 1 million Euros, promising to donate half the proceeds to Walker’s charity, Reach Out Worldwide, though in the three months that it has been on sale, no word of a deal has emerged.

Last night, Vin Diesel posted a very sneaky (and “top secret”) video announcement on his Facebook page with some major updates for the next two movies in the Fast and Furious franchise.

There has been some turmoil of late within the Family, after Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham were given their own spinoff, which prompted a purported feud between Diesel and The Rock, which Diesel then addressed earlier this month.

But In a live video from the secret set, Diesel has unveiled the news that might set fans’ minds at ease.

As far as where things go from here, there were rumors earlier this month that director Justin Lin would return to the franchise, and now Diesel has confirmed that in his new Facebook video.

Not only will Lin be back for Fast and Furious 9 and 10, but he also was adamant about the return of Jordana Brewster’s Mia Toretto, sister of Diesel’s Dom

Lin is credited, of course, with turning the whole Fast franchise around with Tokyo Drift and then the following 3 films, and with some of the discord that’s been brewing behind the scenes (as well as the visually fun but narratively lackluster The Fate of the Furious), now seems like a good time for Lin to come back and resurrect the franchise he helped build into a phenomenon.

With the last Fast & Furious movies making over $1 billion at the box office, it’s an extremely important franchise for Universal (especially since their Dark Universe seems like it’s dead in the water), so it’s not surprising that they would court Lin to return to put the franchise back on the right path.
